HE

Morten refuses to abide by any rules of aging

I cannot believe you still remember that. But yeah, it’s true.

Because it’s true, yeah

A young Morten Harket in in Philadelphia. Friday, October 3, 1986. A-ha was just coming out of the Warwick Hotel on 17th Street when I happened to be walking by the hotel. I was 16 and had just recently gotten a second-hand Minolta SRT-101 35mm SLR camera. I was walking around town that taking pictures and getting to know the camera. I think that I knew that A-ha was playing in town that night, but I can’t remember if I actually knew that or not. As my dumb luck with rock stars would have it, I just happened to be walking past their hotel as they were coming out and catching cabs. A few girls that I knew were already outside the hotel waiting to get autographs. (I didn’t go to the show that night).

Once you get this you must share five random facts about yourself. Then pass this on to your ten favourite followers (◡ε◡✿) go go go go!

11) When I was in Year 7, my friendship group organised a teacher water-bombing event to raise money for charity. It was a big success, but it ended with one of the teachers throwing an entire bucket of water over my head. And the headmaster laughing. There is still a photo of the event on Facebook somewhere.

12) When we were in Year 8, our class got a bit cheeky during Charity Week. We made an arrangement with our substitute teacher that he had to call us ‘Munchkins’ instead of ‘ladies’, and every time he forgot he had to put 50p in a pot. Our main teacher found out and said we were abusing power. We did the same thing to our English teacher, only at the time we were studying Animal Farm so we had to call him ‘Snowball’, and he had to call us ‘Comrades’. Fabulous.

13) Also during Year 8, we had a replacement Religious Studies teacher for half of the year. One morning, he didn’t show up to our class. Normally we were supposed to go and see someone in the office to say our teacher hadn’t appeared. Of course, we decided to wait around forty minutes before doing that. Turns out our teacher had actually forgotten to come into school as he thought it was his day off, and he was at home drinking coffee instead of teaching us.

14) Enough of these tales as they’re not really about me and I feel like I’m cheating a bit. My favourite actors include David Hyde Pierce, Kelsey Grammer, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant.

15) My middle name is Amber, and I really don’t think it suits me. My parents actually wanted to name me Amber but for some reason decided to give me a name which has just ended up being misspelt 99% of the time because of the singer (whose real name is something totally different anyway!).

Once you get this answer 5 facts about yourself and send it your ten favourite followers have a lovely day!

6) I like neither tea nor coffee. Hot chocolate is the way to go! The cute coffee shop on campus (aptly named Curiositea) has these speciality hot chocolates, and I’ve tried all of them.

7) I used to be a dancer when I was much younger. I stopped when I started secondary school at the age of eleven. I was actually okay at it; most, if not all, of my exam results were honours. I also took part in several dance shows in my town.

8) My earliest memory is being bathed in a sink.

9) When I was in preschool, I had to sing “Stop, Look, Listen” (whose words I can still remember now even though the Internet tells me different lyrics) whilst holding a lollipop sign. How I managed to do that, I have no idea in the slightest. I don’t feel comfortable singing around anybody now!

10) If I could own a single dog breed, it would be either a Labrador or a Golden Retriever.

I’ve got quite a few of these and I’m actually on desktop for once so I will try to get around to answering all of them! I don’t like choosing favourite followers so anyone who wishes to do this, feel free to do so!

1) I once met comedian Harry Hill at a book signing in my town. He said I had a cool name. I was so happy.

2) My very first Pokemon was Torchic!

3) Aside from Pokemon, my favourite gaming series is the original Spyro the Dragon series for the PlayStation (especially Year of the Dragon!). The rebooted Legend of Spyro series was awful and took away all the joy of the original series - it all just turned to mindless fighting instead of cute missions and minigames. I can’t speak for Skylanders as I’ve never played it, but it doesn’t really impress me. Just seems like an excuse for merchandising. And Spyro’s new design looks hideous.

4) I recorded the original High School Musical as it aired on my television in September 2006, and I watched it every day after school for at least a month after that. It got to the point where I actually memorised the first half of the dialogue, let alone all the words to all the songs. I still love the first film, no matter how badly it’s slated. It makes me happy.

5) My first favourite cartoon was Rugrats. It is still a classic even now.

Something just came to my mind. I take for granted being a fan of anything nowadays. The a-ha fandom is an example. I’m not part of the original group of people who grew up with a-ha from the beginning. Think of how hard it must have been being a fan thirty, twenty years ago. Want to listen to a…

It’s so true ! How I would like to have internet in the 80,s !!! You can’t imagine all what I discovered about a-ha ! When they were young we didn’t really know them . Now we discover their personality and all these videos of  the early days ! It ‘s a wonderful come back . And it’s why I am on Tumblr too . You , young fans have a different sensitivity and your comments are interesting , funny ! :)

Yes but there’s one upside the older generation had:

Dad’s got me tickets to see Morten at the Sherpard’s Bush in London!!! NO I CAN’T DEAL WITH THIS, NO! Cannot function!!

I’ll be there too!!! Would be awesome if we met up! C=

That would be! :D I’m not in the stalls though, I’m on the first floor. :)

Ahh, just look for a few young people in the queue to get in and it’ll more than likely be me and my bestie - my Norwegian housemate may also be going but he’s not too sure yet! But if he is, just look for a really tall blonde guy. =’) You’ll get such a good view from the first floor! Would’ve done it myself because I’m so short but we risked stalls in 2012 to see him at the indigO2 and ended up hardly three rows away from Morten, so I’m hoping it will be the same again! =P But yeah! Is this your first time seeing him in concert?
