The people who judge the cover of the album “Brother” pissing me off in a awful way. OH.MY.GOD. STOP FUCKIN’ JUDGIN’ THIS COVER. THE THING THAT MATTERS ARE THAT MORTEN IS COMING BACK AND HIS SONGS ARE BEAUTIFUL. SO, STOP PLEASE. THANKS.
Whilst I on the whole agree with this, I think it’s fair to make a judgement on the cover’s appearance given how back to basics this album is meant to be. It’s been hyped up as the new Wild Seed, and if we think about the album artwork for Morten’s other albums, some of it is truly beautiful. Look at Letter From Egypt, for instance. The packaging it’s in is just gorgeous and there was so much effort put into its design. Same goes for Poetenes Evangelium, which was also not released in a jewel case. I completely get that it’s all about the music and not the design, but given how lackluster Out Of My Hands was on the whole both design-wise and song-wise (although I do still like it; most of it just pales compared to WS), I do think people are entitled to criticise the album design.
Let’s also consider people who may not be familiar with Morten Harket’s previous songs, or those who have never heard of A-ha before. Some people might be browsing a music store to try and discover a new artist, and album design plays a large part in being the difference between, “Hey, this artist looks creative and interesting,” and, “Wow, how boring.” Obviously, there are exceptions to this! But I’m just saying that people are entitled to have their views and to judge. Of course most of the fans won’t care either way as new songs are being released and it’s really exciting! But they have every right to say that this album cover displeases them.
How to spend my time during spring break: DRAWING.
I’M TOO JEALOUS OF THIS. Eeeeeeek! <3
